The best short explanation I could give would be… I’m looking to “hire” (for no money) an intern to abuse.

One old fashioned radio solution is to back off from the mic by a foot and increase the gain; A real mic(like the one you bought) is made to pick up sound without it being against your mouth. Becky seems to have it down, do the same guys.
